it kills me to see my child suffer. he is so sick from the chemo. he has lost 40 lbs. somedays he can’t keep anything down, not even his medicine. kids shouldn’t have to suffer like this, no one should. i wish i could take away his pain. i would in a heartbeat. i never thought my child would have cancer. he has been healthy his whole life. the day we found out, august 19 2009, was one of the worst days ever. i felt like my heart was ripped to shreds. i felt like my body was gonna collapse. i still have days that i feel like that. nothing in this world means more to me than my kids. they are my life. my mind is constantly on ethan. i can’t stop thinking and worrying about him. i feel so much pain, my heart and soul are broken. i just cannot imagine the pain that parents feel when their children are gone. it hurts so bad now and he is just sick, but i know the pain is a lot worse than what i am feeling now. ethan having cancer has definitely changed my perspective on life. i have always loved to help people but now i see how really important it is and how much it really means to those in need. going through hard times proves who your real friends are and who really cares or you. a lot of people have amazed me with the care they have shown. even people i’ve only talked to on the phone through my second job have been there for me and supported me. it’s amazing.

ethan is almost done with chemo treatments. he has 2 left. he is currently in the hospital for chemo. he can’t leave until it is out of his system. he is in pain and vomitting. the pain medicine isn’t helping much.

ethan was admitted to childrens last night with a fever. his blood counts are very low. he received a transfusion. during the first few minutes of it, his pulse ox and bp dropped. they immediately put him on oxygen and increased his iv fluid rate to get his bp up. they almost transferred him to ICU but he started pulling out of it. he is now on his 3rd unit of blood. his vitals are doing better, except for his fever. its back up to 102.

ethan has been feeling really bad. he has been vomiting a lot. he has been in the hospital most of this year. tommorrow, we go back to vanderbilt. he is getting a smaller cast put on. he still cant bear wait on it. hopefully, he will be able to walk a little better soon. thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.

ethan has been in the hospital since wednesday. he was admitted for chemo. hopefully he can go home tommorrow. he has been vomiting a lot. please continue to pray for him. he is due for more chemo next week.

ethan is doing good. he is still receiving chemo. one kind goes for 48 hours and the other is 2 nights of 4 hours each. we are not getting much sleep but hope to soon.

there was an error in the biopsy report. the tumor is 90% necrosed instead of 40%. the dr. said that was an ok response instead of the not so good response in which they originally told us. he will continue the chemo protocol he is already on. he is in surgery now getting another broviac and will start chemo late tonight or early in the morning. i will update as soon as i can. thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

we went to see the surgeon today and got the biopsy report. we got bad news. the chemo only killed 40% of the tumor. it was expected to kill 90%. not sure what the next step is. maybe just changing his chemo. will post as soon as i find out. thank you all for the prayers.

ethan’s doing well at home. he is getting around good on his walker. we go back next week to vanderbilt to remove staples and get biopsy report to see how much the tumor was affected by the chemo. hopefully 100% necrosis! the next chemo is due the week after christmas.
